The assistant commissioner (land) of Kalapara upazila of Patuakhali was stabbed by muggers in Savar on Monday night.
The injured, Md Abu Bakar Siddique, has been admitted to Enam Medical College Hospital at night.
The incident took place on the Dhaka-Aricha Highway at around 11pm.
Witnesses said that Md Abu Bakar Siddique was stabbed by some five to six muggers. After locals started shouting for help, the muggers fled with Md Abu Bakar Siddique's phone and wallet.
"We have several teams in the operation, who are working to identify and arrest the criminals,” Savar police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Dipak Kumar Saha said.
