A Saudi expatriate was stabbed to death by rivals in Gazipur's Kapasia on Saturday morning over a land related dispute.
The deceased was identified as Mobarak Hossain, 45, son of Nurul Islam, resident of Borobari village in Singhashori union. He returned from Saudi just 10 days ago.
Besides, six other people including her wife Rani Akhter, sister Khaleda Akhter, were injured in the knife attack.
Quoting family members Furkan Ahmed, sub-inspector of Sreepur police station, said that Mobarak locked into an altercation with his neighbours Lotu Miah and his son several days ago over land related issues.
Sequel to previous enmity, they called him out of the house in the morning and locked into an altercation again.
The victim's wife said Lotu Miah along with eight people including his two sons entered their house in the morning equipped with locally made sharp weapons and called her husband out of the house.
Later, they stabbed his husband, leaving critically injured.
As they tried to obstruct the attackers, they also beat and stabbed them, leaving six people injured, claimed Rani Akhter.
Being rescued by local people, the injured Mobarak was taken to Sreepur Health Complex where doctors declared him dead.
Among the injured, the condition of three people was critical.
After giving primary treatment at Sadar hospital, they were referred to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital and Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
The SI said that the body bore severe injury marks on its chest.
