All bus services on the Dhaka to Gopalganj, Fardipur, and Daulatdia-Paturia route have been halted ahead of the BNP rally in Fardipur.
Additionally, BNP activists are traveling to Fardipur to attend the conference through different ways than they did two days ago.
Bus stand sources said that the bus service of Sebagreen Line, Comfort, Diganta, Golden Line, Star Line running from Gopalganj to Dhaka via Fardipur has been stopped due to BNP rally in Fardipur.
Many are returning home from the bus stand. All buses are plying on Dhaka route via Padma Bridge. Apart from this, bus service is normal on all other routes of the district.
BNP activists from Gopalganj reached Fardipur two days earlier to join the meeting. More than 1,000 people attended the event.
In fear of arrest, the activists did not come together to Fardipur but they reached through different routes.
Comfort bus line's counter manager Ilias Sheikh said that since morning, Comfort Liner has stopped bus service from Fardipur's Daulatdia-Paturia to Dhaka.
Rasel Howladar, counter manager of Sebagreen Line, said that the bus service on Dhaka route from Gopalganj to Fardipur has been stopped due to congestion in Fardipur.
Md Bulbul Islam, president of zilla bus owners' association, also said that the bus service on the Fardipur route has been stopped due to congestion in Fardipur.
District Swachhasebak General Secretary Sajjad Hossain Hira said over phone: “Due to the bus unavailability and the fear of arrests, we have reached the meeting ground in Fardipur earlier.”
Rafiquzzaman Sharif, convenor of Zilla BNP, said on mobile phone that the activists of BNP and allied organizations of five upazilas of the district went to Fardipur on a voluntary basis.
“We hope that more than 1,000 people will be present in Fardipur,” he further stated.
