Update : 28 Oct 2022, 08:50 PM

Bus services have been suspended from Rajshahi and Bogra to eight districts of Rangpur a day before the BNP's mass rally in the district, triggering immense suffering to commuters on the routes.

Bogra district Bus, Minibus and Coach Paribahan Owners Association announced the suspension of vehicles from the central bus terminal at Charmatha of the district town on Friday morning.

Meanwhile, Md Motiul Haque Titu, general secretary of Rajshahi Road Transport Group, said that a two-day transport strike has been announced over internal issues in Rangpur. No buses will be allowed there.

Besides, no long route buses will leave Rangpur also. For that reason, they have suspended bus service for two days.

The suspension of bus services in Rangpur is also affecting commuters in Kurigram as well, despite the latter district's transport owners not agreeing with the strike.

As previously announced, Rangpur Motor Owners Association's strike started at 6am on Friday, a day before the BNP's mass rally in the district.

No buses were leaving Kurigram and plying the Kurigram-Rangpur highway either amid the strike in Rangpur.

Amid suspension of the bus service from other neibouring districts, leaders and activists of BNP were seen travelling to Rangpur for the party's rally.

BNP is set to hold its fourth divisional rally on Saturday at Collectorate Eidgah ground in Rangpur city.
