Cyclone Sitrang: Chittagong port activities resume

Cargo ships now approaching the jetty

Update : 25 Oct 2022, 01:23 PM

Cargo handling at the Chittagong port resumed on Tuesday morning as the cyclonic storm Sitrang completed its landfall and weakened to a tropical depression over Bangladesh.

As the inclement weather is gradually improving, ships have started to rush the jetty.

The ships began to return to jetty at 8:30am, said Chittagong Port Authority Secretary Md Omar Faruq.

He said that there is a plan in place to load ships from the outer anchorage to various berths such as GCB, NCT, and CCT. The port's tugboats are assisting with this operation.

Aside from the start of product delivery activities at 8am, ships have begun to approach the port. Container and cargo operations have also begun.
