Satkhira district administration has taken all the preparations to deal with the cyclonic storm Sitrang.
According to the district administration, more than 250 shelters have been prepared in the district to reduce the possible damage caused by the disaster and to provide security to people's lives and property.
The information was revealed at an emergency meeting at the conference room of deputy commissioner on Sunday.
Besides, 1,200 school colleges have been prepared as alternative shelters.
Control rooms have been opened in the district for emergency response during disasters.
Along with this xix thousand volunteers have been kept ready.
Residents of Satkhira coast have been experiencing drizzle since Sunday morning under the influence of low pressure over the Bay of Bengal. Residents of the coast are worried thinking about possible damage.
Maritime ports of Mongla and Payra have been advised to lower local cautionary signal number 4 and to hoist danger signal no seven as the cyclonic storm Sitrang is approaching Bangladesh.
The cyclone is likely to hit the coast of Bangladesh early Tuesday.
Now, the storm is located 500km far from the coast.
Meanwhile, Chittagong and Cox's Bazar have been advised to hoist danger signal no six.
Coastal districts of Satkhira, Khulna, Bagerhat, Jhalkathi, Pirojpur, Barguna, Patuakhali, Bhola, Barisal, Laxmipur, Chandpur, Noakhali, Feni and their adjacent islands and chars will be under danger signal seven.
The coastal districts of Chittagong and Cox's Bazar and their remote islands and chars will be under danger signal number six.
