A young man was arrested for giving a proxy in a recruitment test for the appointment of union social workers under the Department of Social Services in Pirojpur on Friday.
The detainee is Zubair Hossain, son of Arshed Ali from Nazirhat Mollapara area of Gurudaspur upazila of Natore district.
He was arrested from Pirojpur PTI (Primary Teacher Training) centre during the test, the centre superintendent Mullah Farid Ahmed said.
He added that as many as 133 out of 450 candidates participated in the recruitment exam at the centre.
Later, Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Maryam Jahan identified the arrestee as a fake candidate looking at his handwritting and other aspects, he added.
UNO Maryam Jahan said that based on secret information, she was checking all the candidates as a magistrate at the PTI centre.
“At one stage, we caught the proxy examinee and handed him over to the police,” she said.
