The suspension of inter-district bus services, as previously announced by local bus owners and workers, started in Khulna division on Friday.
The strike began at 6am on Friday and will continue till 6pm on Saturday.
Khulna Bus-Minibus Owners Association and Khulna Motor Workers Union jointly took this decision on Tuesday night.
The BNP, which is scheduled to hold a mass rally at Sonali Bank Chattar of Khulna city on Saturday, has said the decision was taken to thwart its gathering.
Denying the allegation, Khulna Bus-Minibus Owners Association Vice President Kazi Enayet Hossain said the strike had been called to protest the increase in the prices of fuel oils and the plying of three-wheeled vehicles on highways.
