BNP Standing Committee Member Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan has said that the people of the country have run out of patience and want an end to the current oppressive regime.

The senior BNP leader was speaking at a preparatory meeting of the party on Wednesday ahead of its Sylhet divisional rally scheduled for November 20.

The BNP leader said that the government is now failing to prevent people from joining the BNP’s programs.

He said that five BNP men have so far been killed during the party’s anti-government movement ahead of the national polls.

He said that those responsible for these deaths will be brought to book.

At the meeting held at a city hotel, Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan said he hoped that the divisional rally in Sylhet will be a success for the party.

Sylhet City Corporation Mayor Ariful Haque Chowdhury, who was also present at the meeting, said that the people of Sylhet no longer want to see the Awami League in power.

As part of its move to continue the pace of the ongoing movement, the BNP on September 27 announced a program of holding public rallies in 10 major cities.

The party launched its divisional rallies in Chittagong and will conclude the program through a huge mass gathering in Dhaka city on December 10.
