The police have detained 10 female members of the Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh in Meherpur on suspicion of plotting sabotage.
Dolly Khatun, Shahida Khatun, Sanowara Khatun, Nilufa Khatun, Roksana Khatun, Shefali Khatun, Bedana Khatun, Tania Khatun, Romiya Khatun and Suraiya Khatun were arrested at Dolly Khatun’s home in Najirakona village of Mujibnagar upazila during a meeting on Tuesday.
Mujibnagar police station OC Mehdi Russell said the female activists of the Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh had been holding a secret anti-government meeting at Dolly Khatun.
Police had raided the house acting on a tip-off, he said, adding that they had also confiscated some “jihadi books” from there.
A case would be filed against them, and they would be sent to jail through court later, the OC said.
