Two men were killed at Nalapur Dakshinpara of Patnitala upazila on Sunday night over a trifling matter.
The deceased were identified as Foizul Islam, 45, resident of Krishtorampur village in Ghoshnagar union and Achhir Uddin, 70, resident Nalapur Dakshinpara village of Amair union.
Shamsul Alam Shah, officer-in-charge of Patnitala police station, confirmed the matter.
Quoting locals, the OC said that when Foizul went to Nalapur intersection, Acchir called him “crazy” which made him angered. Later, they locked into a clash over the matter.
At one stage, Foizul stabbed Acchir on his back with an axe, leaving him critically injured.
Being rescued by locals , he was rushed to Patnitala upazila health complex.
As his condition was critical, Acchir was referred to Rajshahi medical college and he died on the way to hospital.
Meanwhile, locals tied up Foizul with a tree and gave him a good thrash.
At one stage, he fell unconscious.
On information, police came to the spot and rescued him as critically injured.
When he was taken to the health complex, duty doctors declared him dead.
The police officer said that they are investigating the incident.
