Police have arrested two people for selling 2,160 litres of illegally stored diesel in the black market.
They were arrested from Naojor area of Gazipur city on Friday night, Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP) Assistant Commissioner Abu Sayem Nayan confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune.
The arrestees are- Omar Farooq Babu, 43, and Mokhlesur Rahman, 38.
Later, a tank lorry and Tk43000 for selling diesel were seized from them.
Abu Sayem Nayan said that the accused admitted that they have been stockpiling diesel and other flammable substances and selling them in the black market illegally for a long time during primary interrogation.
According to the information of the arrestees, the police recovered a drum of 160 litres of diesel and an empty drum from the absconding accused Salim Mia’s shop under Sadar police station in the city.
