Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Teknaf police detained 22 people including 7 Rohingyas, planning to sail to Malaysia illegally, from Naityanpara area of the municipality on Tuesday night.
Md Hafizur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Teknaf police station, told Dhaka Tribune that they raided one Jamal Hossain’s house, on a tip-off, and detained the men. The Rohingyas are currently under the custody of BGB while the local men were sent to Teknaf police station.
A case will be filed in this regard, the OC added.
