Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has discovered an illegal arms manufacturing factory in remote hills of Chittagong's Banskhali upazila.
Acting on a tip-off, a RAB team conducted a raid on Wednesday and arrested the main technichian of the arms factory.
The arrestee was identified as Zaker Ullah, 50, son of Maulvi Nurul Huda of Banshkhali's Chambal area.
According to RAB, 8 one-shutter guns, 2 two-two pistols, and weapon-making equipment were seized during the drive.
RAB-7 Commander Lt Col MA Yusuf said small one-shooter guns were made in that factory in every five to six days.
He said Zakir and three other craftsmen used to do the entire work of weapon making. It takes them at least 5-15 days to make various types of weapons, and they used to gather raw materials for weapons from various local workshops and prepare them in this factory.
