Shamim Osman: Ready to face those trying to destroy country

He said that there was no point playing such a dangerous game all over the country; rather the game can be played in Narayanganj

Narayanganj-4 lawmaker Shamim Osman has said that he was ready to face those trying to destroy the country, saying that any plot by this quarter would be dealt with strong hands.

“You want to take your chances during a bad time (for the country), you want to play, you want to play a deadly game. (You) want to destroy Bangladesh. Do you want to play with us, want to play? When do you want to play? We also want to play,” the Awami League lawmaker said while addressing a program in Narayanganj on Saturday.

Alleging that the quarter is playing a dangerous game, Shamim Osman said: “You will play for destruction and we will play against destruction. You will play to make Bangladesh a failed state and we will play to help the country stand with its head high.”

He said that there was no point playing such a dangerous game all over the country; rather the game can be played in Narayanganj.

“At first the Rohingyas came, then Covid-19, followed by the (recent) floods. Then the Russia-Ukraine war broke out…..the effects of this fell on Bangladesh as well. But we are doing better than others,” he added.

Calling on the people to unite, he said that the time had come to work together for the country as some people could not tolerate the independence of Bangladesh.

Bangla Tribune quoted him as saying that the ideals of Bangabandhu had been erased from the country through his assassination. Regardless of that the country is now moving ahead under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina, he added.

Shamim Osman mentioned that a group tried to kill Sheikh Hasina 21 times and failed. He said that these people did not want the regime to change but rather wanted to remove Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

He served the warning that such ploys should not be repeated anymore.
