An officer at Joynagar branch of Rupali Bank in Kashiani upazila of Gopalganj allegedly received a letter instructing him to sleep by 10pm in order to be able to arrive at work by 9am.
The letter was given to the senior officer of the bank Md Shahidul Islam on Tuesday. The letter is signed by Md Mofizur Rahman, the manager of the bank, who claimed that his signature had been forged.
A picture of the letter, posted on social media, became viral.
Dhaka TribuneThe letter said: “You are instructed to go to sleep by 10pm to facilitate your attendance at work at 9am for smooth execution of banking activities.”
Md Mofizur Rahman said that one of their colleagues Swapan Sikder prepared the letter forging his signature as a practical joke with Shahidul.
He added: “Senior officers Shahidul and Swapan have been asked to respond regarding the matter within the next three days.”
