Police have rescued four teenage girls during human trafficking from Savar, Dhaka.
Police also arrested accused Chadni, 30, from Savar in a case filed for trafficking the children on Thursday night, reports Bangla Tribune.
On Friday afternoon, Rafiqul Islam, additional deputy police commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police, said that four girls left home saying they were going to school in Rajshahi on Tuesday morning.
“But when they did not return home in the afternoon, their parents started searching. At one stage, the local people told them that the four girls, including a woman named Chandni, were seen passing through the gate on the north side of the Mahishbathan colony,” he added.
“Later, the children’s parents went to Chandni's husband and found out that Chandni often goes to Dhaka without informing anyone and returns after 10-12 days. When contacted on Chandni's mobile phone, it was switched off,” the police official observed.
According to the parents of the girls, they believed that accused Chandni and her accomplices had taken the children for trafficking and sexual activities.
A regular case was registered with Rajpara police station in view of a complaint by the father of one of the girls.
Rafiqul further said that SI Sajibul Islam and his team started the operation under the leadership of Jahangir Alam, officer-in-charge of Rajpara police station.
On Thursday night, the team then arrested Chandni with the help of Savar Model police station from East Rajasan area of Savar and rescued the girls.
During interrogation, the arrestee confessed to trafficking the girls for sexual activities.
Legal action will be taken against her, said police.
