A businessman was fined Tk20,000 for selling charger fans at higher prices in Bogra on Saturday due to the rising demand amid load-shedding across the country.

Iftekharul Islam Rizvi, assistant director of Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection of Bogra, fined the owner of Al Madina Electric and Electronics of Nadi Bangla Complex during a raid in the afternoon.

According to the complaint, the store called Al Madina Electric and Electronics in Nadi Bangla Complex near Satmatha in Bogra city sells electronic items at wholesale and retail rates.

However, the owner has been selling goods to buyers at arbitrary prices for a long time. He sold a charger fan worth Tk4,800 to the buyer for Tk6,100.

After receiving such complaints, Iftekharul Islam raided the shop and found out that the businessman dishonestly takes more than Tk1,000 to Tk1,200 extra from buyers per charger fan.

Later, the trader paid the fine immediately.

Iftekharul Islam said that such operations will continue.
