A fire broke out at a jhut (scrap from garment factories) warehouse in Konabari’s Dewliabari area of Gazipur on Tuesday night.
Factory sources said the fire originated at around 9pm. Locals at first tried to bring the fire under control.
Upon receiving the information, three firefighting units from Joydebpur and Kashimpur DBL rushed to the spot and were trying to douse the fire as of 10:45pm.
Tasharaf Hossain, senior station officer of Joydebpur Fire Service, said the fire originated at the jhut warehouse at first and later spread to more warehouses.
The reason behind the fire is yet to be determined.
Casualties and losses due to the fire could not be known immediately, he added.
