Man killed in wild elephant attack in Chittagong

The body will be handed over to family, say police

A man was killed in a wild elephant attack at Narishcha area in Chittagong's Rangunia upazila.

The deceased has been identified as Mohammad Shah Alam, 55, of Shilak union in Rangunia upazila.

The incident was reported at around 7:30m on Sunday near the banks of the Narishcha canal, said Bit Officer Mintu Kumar Dey of Rangunia Forest Department.

He said that Shah Alam had been killed by a wild elephant. “When we arrived at the spot, we discovered the elephant had already left.”

Officer-in-Charge Md Obaidul Islam of South Rangunia police station said: “We went to the spot immediately after being informed of the elephant attack. The victim’s body will be handed over to his family soon.”
