The water level of various rivers including Jamuna in Tangail continues to decline but the overall flood situation in the district remains unchanged since several regions still remain flooded.
At present, the water of three rivers including Jamuna continues flowing over the danger line and 8,764 hectares of cropland in the district have been submerged in water in seven upazilas of the district, said the agriculture department.
According to the deputy commissioner's office, 68.75 sq km area is flooded and about 49,417 families have been stranded.
As many as 337 metric tonnes of rice and Tk5,96,250 have been stockpiled.
Sirajul Islam, executive engineer of the Water Development Board, said the water level in various rivers has started declining.
“As a result, river erosion occurred in different areas. The places that need work are being attended to,” he added.
