A man accused of killing his wife and her parents was arrested with local weapons by police from Khoshalpur Putol village under Sherpur’s Sribardi upazila on Friday morning.
The arrestee has been identified as Mintu Mia, of Geramara village under Sribardi upazila of Sherpur.
Biplab Kumar Bishwas, officer In-charge (OC) of Sribardi police station, said Mintu attacked his in-laws’ house around 7pm on June 18 and hacked a total of six people, including his wife, his father-in-law and his mother-in-law with a poacher.
The three succumbed to wounds later in the night. The deceased are Monira Begum, 40, her father Mahmud Hazi, 65, and her mother Shefali Begum, 60.
The attack left another three people critically injured, who are now undergoing treatment at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, added the OC.
