A police constable was arrested on Friday after his girlfriend filed a case against him for raping her in Khulna.
Arrestee Swadesh Bala, has a child of his own, said Aranghata Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Waliuzzaman.
According to police, the policeman identified as unmarried and a Muslim to the woman to lure her into a relationship.
The OC said: “On June 15, the constable was transferred from Khanjahan Ali police station to Aranghata police station. Swadesh had a long-term love and physical relationship with a 24-year-old girl near Shiromani Bazar.”
At one stage, the woman proposed Swadesh to marry her. But the constable refused the proposal.
Therefore, she filed the rape case with Khanjahan Ali police station on Friday alleging rape.
Swadesh was immediately arrested by Aranghata police following the case.
