A teenager allegedly died by suicide by consuming poison after a fight with her mother in Dhaka’s Jatrabari late on Tuesday.
The deceased is Shwapna Akhter, 15, a resident of Kutubkhali and the oldest of five siblings.
According to her father, Md Razzaque, earlier in the day, her mother, Shamsunnahar, scolded her for quarreling with her siblings.
She was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital after she fell ill following the consumption of insecticide.
The duty doctor at DMCH declared her dead at around midnight.
Bacchu Mia, in-charge of DMCH police outpost, said the body was at the hospital morgue for autopsy.
