Two police constables were beaten up allegedly by some activists of Jubo League, the ruling party’s youth wing, in Natore on Thursday afternoon.
The injured are Hasib Uddin and Selim Hossain, posted at the Natore Police Lines.
Police have detained four persons – Nadim, Zakir, Jony and Sagar – in this connection.
The constables came under attack when they were coming to the district town from Police Lines on a motorcycle in the afternoon.
As the motorbike hit another bike on the road, Jubo League activists Jakir, Sagar and their associates locked in an altercation with them. At one stage, they beat up the duo and hit Selim Hossain on the head with a piece of brick.
The duo were first sent to Natore Sadar Hospital and later to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for better treatment.
Natore Superintendent of Police Liton Kumar Saha said injured Selim Hossain had to take seven stitches on the head due to the injury.
