A murder accused has been stabbed to death in Gopalganj’s Kashiani Upazila.
The victim has been identified as Rabiul Sheikh, 40, the prime accused in the murder of one of his relatives. He recently came out of jail on bail.
Police recovered Rabiul’s body from a bamboo grove at Padmabila village around 9am on Thursday, confirmed Kashiani police Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Masud Rayhan.
According to Rabiul’s wife Shyamoli Begum, he was killed after being called to settle the murder case.
“My husband was the prime accused in the murder of his cousin Shaheed Sheikh in 2020,” she said.
Shaheed’s brother Kobad Sheikh called Rabiul on Wednesday, saying that they wanted to resolve the case. However, he had not returned home. “We found his body the next morning.”
Rabiul’s brother Monir Sheikh is also an accused in the case.
“We are investigating the matter,” OC Masud said, adding that the body was sent to the 250-bed General Hospital in Gopalganj.
