BCL factional clash in Chittagong leaves eight injured

The two groups clashed while paying respect to language martyrs at Haji Muhammad Mohsin College in Chittagong

At least eight people were injured in a clash between two factions of Bangladesh Chhatra League over paying tribute to the language martyrs marking the International Mother Language Day on Monday at the Government Haji Muhammad Mohsin College in Chittagong.

The incident took place on the college campus when the two groups were placing floral wreaths at a monument. The two groups engaged in a clash following a scuffle that left eight people injured. The injured were taken to hospital immediately.

Sadeq Rahman, inspector at Panchlaish police station, confirmed the matter.

The injured were identified as Borhan Uddin, 26, Riaz, 19, Mohammad Sultan, 19, Prince Das, 19, Mohammad Rakib, 20, SM Ibrahim, 20, Johnny Das, 21 and Nur Alam, 22.

Additional members of law enforcers were deployed on the campus following the incident.
