The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested the prime accused in connection with the murder of a man over a Facebook post at Fatikchari upazila of Chittagong.
Acting on a tip-off, the elite force arrested Md Alamgir Hossain, 50, from the Chittagong Port Access Road (CPAR) area, in the late hours of Friday, said RAB-7 Senior Assistant Director (Media) Mohammad Nurul Abshar.
On February 14, some miscreants attacked and killed Jasim Uddin, 28, from Dantmara union of the upazila, following a family dispute and posting a status about his being a drug dealer on his Facebook, he added.
Jasim's sister filed two cases against Alamgir for murder and possessing arms with the Bhujpur police station. Two of the victim’s brothers, Md Karim and Md Rafiq, were injured while trying to save him from the attack.
Alamgir was handed over to Bhujpur police station, said the RAB official.
