Two people, including a police constable, were hacked during an anti-drug operation in Rajshahi on Sunday.
The incident took place in Dashmari area at around 1:30pm leaving constable Atiqur Rahman of the metropolitan Detective Branch, and police source Nayem, 30, injured.
Meanwhile, police arrested a drug dealer named Aminur Rahman at that time who was also injured during the incident.
The injured were admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital. Of them, Atiqur’s condition was stated to be critical.
Motihar police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Anwar Ali Tuhin said that a team of the metropolitan DB police along with the source conducted the anti-drug operation.
“At that time, drug dealer Aminur and his associates swooped on the police. They stabbed Atiqur and Nayem, and escaped with injuries,” he added.
Aminur was injured at that time. Later, he was arrested by other police members while fleeing the scene.
