A woman has been beaten to death in Nagarpur Upazila of Tangail.
The deceased was identified as Lalbhanu, 58, wife of one Babul Mia of the upazila’s Duajani village.
Abdullah Al Mamun, Nagarpur police station officer-in-charge, confirmed the matter and said they recovered the body on Saturday morning.
The husband told Dhaka Tribune that he left the house in morning and went to his farm land. His wife too was busy in the kitchen. “I suddenly heard that my wife has been attacked and when I reached home, I found her body lying in front of the kitchen,” he said.
Babul said that the body had blood all over it and claimed that some unidentified miscreants had beaten Lalbhanu with sticks, leaving her dead.
Police suspect that the murder could have taken place over a family fued. The law enforcers said they were questioning family members over the murder.
According to family sources, Lalbhanu got married to Babul after her first husband passed away 12 years ago.
