Law enforcers have arrested a notorious criminal from Companiganj Upazila of Noakhali who was seen in a video footage brandisihng a gun last year.
The arrestee, Anowar Hossain Masud alias Picchi Masud, 29, is the leader of a local robbery group, said Companiganj police station officer-in-charge Md Sazzad Hossain Roman.
Picchi Masud and his aide Keccha Russel were seen holding weapons and opening fire in a video captured on May 13, 2021, the OC said. “They went into hiding soon after the video became viral on social media.”
The duo was allegedly attacking some opponents of Bashurhat Municipal Mayor Abdul Quader Mirza, the brother of Road Transport Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader.
Police say Picchi Masud faces cases filed against him for murder, robbery and narcotics cases.
