The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has made two arrests in connection with the recovery of the headless body of a woman at a farm in Khulna.
One of the suspects was in a relationship with the victim, 20-year-old Muslima, who was found dead on Wednesday morning, hours after she left her home the previous night, the elite police unit said on Saturday.
The severed head was recovered along with her clothes and shoes from a construction site at Phultala upazila’s Jugnipasha on Saturday, RAB-7 Director Mohammad Mostaq Ahmed told a media call.
“Prime suspect Reaz was arrested from Faridpur late on Saturday while his accomplice Sohel from Phultata town the same day,” he said.

Quoting the suspects, the senior RAB officer said, victim Muslima went to meet Riaz on the night of January 25 after he promised to marry her over a phone call. Reaz and Sohel took her to a house in Jugnipasha and raped her there.
“They then took her to a secluded place near a canal and strangled her to death. They dumped her body in the nearby paddy field, where they raped her dead body again,” said Ahmed.
Later, they severed the head later in a bid to conceal her identity and buried the head inside a construction site, according to him.
Victim's sister Aklima Khatun said that Muslima received a call on her mobile phone around 9pm on January 25. Then she left the house without telling anyone and did not return, reports UNB.
The next morning, after receiving the news of the recovery of an unidentified body, she went to the site and identified her sister.
Officer-in-Charge of Fultala police station Iliaz Talukdar said Muslima was a divorcee, and Reaz is married with children.
