Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Benazir Ahmed on Monday said police are determined to serve the people of the country.
“We are constantly working to improve the quality of this organization,” he said at a prize giving ceremony at Rajarbagh Police Lines as the chief guest.
Dr Benazir said the most meritorious persons are being selected centrally with maximum transparency for promotion of the police personnel.
“We have amended the rules for appointment of constables, sub-inspectors and sergeants after 40 years. Meanwhile, the 'Best of the Best' candidates have already been selected for the post of constable,” he said.
The IGP said: “We think the jobs in the police force are not mere a job, rather it’s a service. That's why our tagline this time is 'service', not 'job'. We want police to serve the people of the country without any discrimination.”
He expressed deep gratitude to the prime minister for inaugurating the Police Week 2022 on the second day of Police Week 2022, celebrated under the theme “Skillful Police Prosperous Country, Bangabandhu's Bangladesh”.
The IGP distributed prizes among various units who have successfully recovered Shield Parade, 2020 and 2021 drugs, weapons and smuggled goods at Rajarbagh Police Lines ground.
