Two alleged drug-traders were arrested with 300 Tapentadol tablets in Rajshahi on Sunday.
The arrested were Dara Uddin Jishan, 36, and Isarul Islam, 40, son of Fazlur Rahman.
Acting on a tip-off, a detective branch team of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) conducted a raid in the Laxmipur area of Rajshahi city at around 9 pm, said RMP Deputy Commissioner Arefin Jewel.
As many as 300 pieces of the drug were recovered from the arrestees, he said.
Tapentadol tablets are used to treat moderate to severe acute pain and it may form addiction, especially with prolonged use, according to the MedlinePlus website produced by the United States National Library of Medicine.
The government has declared Tapentadol as a narcotic substance and ordered a halt to the production and marketing of the drug, said Jewel.
A case has been filed with Rajpara police station over the incident, he added.
