Bangladesh reports 5 more dengue cases

Death toll static at 105

Five new dengue patients were hospitalized in the country in 24 hours till Saturday morning, the health authorities have said.

No new deaths were reported during the period, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Three of the new patients were undergoing treatment at hospitals in Dhaka while the remaining two were admitted to hospitals in other divisions.

A total of 105 dengue patients -- 95 in Dhaka division, four in Mymensingh, two each in Chittagong and Khulna, and one each in Rajshahi and Barisal divisions -- have died since January, 2021.

As many as 35 dengue patients were receiving treatment at different hospitals in the country as of Saturday.

Among them, 24 are receiving treatment at different hospitals in the capital and the remaining 11 at hospitals outside Dhaka.

This year, 100 patients have been admitted to different hospitals with dengue so far, and 65 dengue patients have left hospitals after recovery, said the DGHS.
