A bomb blast incident has been reported at a transport office in Chhota Achhra area of Benapole Port police station in Jessore.
The bomb exploded at the New Alif Transport Office around 4:30am on Thursday, Kamal Hossain Bhuiyan, officer-in-charge of Benapole Port Police Station, confirmed the matter.
However, no one was injured in the blast incident.
Locals said that the people of the area woke up early in the morning due to loud noises. They came out and found a fire burning inside the New Alif Transport Office in the market, which is located along the Choto Achhra road.
Office shutters have been blown off in the explosion.
Besides, cracks have appeared in many places on the walls of the market.
Later, a fire service team came and brought the fire under control.
Market owner Habibur Rahman said: "Liton Hossain rented an office in my market to do transport business. The office shutter was blown away by the bomb blast. Cracks have appeared in the walls of the market. Walls can collapse at any time. All the things in the office were gutted in the fire of the bomb.”
The OC said: "A powerful bomb exploded at the transport office in the early hours of the morning. I visited the scene. At this time, bomb making equipment was recovered from the scene.”
Liton Hossain, the owner of Alif Transport, was available over phone when an attempt was made to contact him.
An operation is underway to arrest Liton, said the OC
