A traffic sergeant died after a private car hit him in Chittagong's Halishahar area on Monday night.
The deceased was identified as Mohammad Mojahid, 32, a sergeant of the Port Zone Traffic Department.
Sub-inspector (SI) Nurul Alam Ashik, in-charge of CMCH police outpost, said the incident happened around 11pm at Toll Road area of Chittagong's Halishahar.
A speeding car hit Mojahid while he was performing his duty — leaving him seriously injured. He was taken to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead upon arrival.
The driver managed to flee with the car, SI Ashik sdded.
