The Rajshahi Metropolitan Police on Wednesday gave the BNP permission to hold a mass rally on the historic Madrasa Ground of the city on December 3.
RMP Additional Deputy Commissioner (Media) Rafiqul Alam confirmed the matter.
The BNP already had permission to use the field for necessary preparations from Thursday.
Leaders and activists of the BNP started to spread the word about the rally as soon as it got permission for holding the mass gathering.
The conditions given by the RMP include starting and finishing the rally between 2pm and 5pm, installing high-resolution CCTV cameras, keeping the gathering withing the ground premises, not blocking any roads, and not making any statement that could disrupt law and order.
"This is not a permit to use the space. That permission must be obtained from the authorities concerned," the RMP added.
