Media persons have been asked to leave the spot to bring the blaze under control

Update : 05 Jun 2022, 07:27 PM

The massive fire at the BM Container Depot at Sitakunda in Chittagong is yet to come under control despite efforts to douse the flames that broke out 21 hours ago.

Explosions can still be heard and the flames seem to have reignited once more around 6pm, our correspondent reports.

Media personnel are being asked to leave the spot to bring the fire under control.

Moreover, six new fire service vehicles are on their way as the existing vehicles on spot are reportedly out of water.

Around 25 units of the fire service and civil defence are working to put out the fires while around 250 members of the Bangladesh Army army are working on rescue operations.

At least 45 people have been killed so far and over 450 injured in the fire caused by an explosion at a private Inland Container Depot (ICD) in Chittagong late on Saturday night.

Three probe panels, including a nine-member local administration committee to probe the incident.
