Police have arrested three people in a case filed over gang-raping a ninth-grader in Boalkhali upazila in Chittagong.
The arrestees were identified as Emran Hossain, 19, Sunny Ullah, 20, and Kamal Uddin, 26. Another accused named Simon is absconding, said police.
Boalkhali police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Karim said they were arrested after conducting raids in different areas of the upazila on Saturday afternoon.
"On Friday night, the schoolgirl went to a nearby shop to change the books she had bought earlier. On her way, the accused forcibly picked her up from the road in a rickshaw and took her to the nearby West Shakpura area,” he said.
The OC added that the accused later raped the survivor and fled the scene.
When the student returned home and informed the family members about the incident, her mother filed a case against the four men with the Boalkhali police on Saturday morning.
