At least four people, including a police officer, have been injured in a bizarre biting incident over a fare dispute between passengers and a rickshaw puller in Tongi, Gazipur.

The incident took place when rickshaw puller Delowar Hossain, 27, was carrying two passengers to Shaheed Ahsan Ullah Master General Hospital on Sunday.

According to police, after reaching the destination, an altercation erupted between Delowar and his passengers over the fare.

Later police managed to detain Delowar, said Tongi East police station Inspector (Operation) Robiul Azam. “Delowar is a drug addict. We will take legal actions against him.”

Meanwhile, Delowar said: “Police weren’t paying any attention to my side over the issue. So, I bit the police officer as well.”
