Authorities on Wednesday fined a trader in Kurigram Tk 20,000 for stockpiling 3,191 litres of soybean oil.
Directorate of National Consumers Right Protection (DNCRP) Kurigram District Office carried out a raid at the Krishnapur Taltola area of the Sadar Upazila.
According to sources, 2,896 one-litre bottles and 59 five-litre bottles were found in the warehouse of Bhai Bhai Traders.
The owner of the company Mosharraf Hossain Moni was fined Tk20,000 for stocking the oil and selling them at higher prices.
The trader had been instructed to sell all the stockpiled oil bottles at the price stipulated on the bottles (Tk160 per litre, Tk760 per five litres).
