Five killed in separate road crashes in Gazipur

Four of them were trying to rescue the victims of another road accident

At least five people were killed and several others were injured in separate accidents on at Kaliakair in Gazipur on Tuesday.

Three people were killed in a head-on collision between a CNG-powered autorickshaw and a bus on the east side of the flyover in Safipur area of Kaliakair at 4pm on Tuesday.

The deceased are Sharif Hossain, 30, Renu Begum, 50, and Sathi Akter, 25.

In another incident, an autorickshaw coming from the opposite direction collided with a North Bengal-bound ENA Paribahan bus on the east side of Safipur flyover in Kaliakair upazila of Dhaka-Tangail highway.

The deceased are Mohammad Hossain, 44, and the unidentified autorickshaw driver, 41.

Following the accidents, locals took the injured to a local health complex in a critical condition. The duty doctor declared Renu, Sharif, Sathi, and Mohammad dead. The unidentified autorickshaw driver died on the spot.

Salna highway police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Firoz Hossain police seized the bus following the incident. The bodies were sent to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
