A man has been arrested in Bhuapur of Tangail for raping his 10-year-old niece.
Abbas, 25, a carpenter by profession, was arrested after the girl’s mother filed a case against him on Thursday.
Police produced him before a court on Friday and sought an order that he be kept in jail until an investigation report was ready.

On Thursday, the girl’s parents were not home when Abbas entered the house and attacked her in the washroom. She then screamed, prompting neighbors to come to the rescue of the girl.
Abbas, however, managed to flee the scene.

The survivor, a grade four student at a local school, was later sent to Tangail General Hospital.
The girl’s mother informed the local representatives of the incident and filed the case against Abbas with Bhuapur police station in the afternoon.
Abbas was arrested by Bhuapur police station Sub-Inspector (SI) Farid Ahmed and his force, according to OC Faridul Islam.
