Two children were killed on Thursday morning after being hit by a train while playing on the rail tracks in Raipura Upazila of Narsingdi.

The deceased were identified as Jubaid Mia, 11, a fourth-grader at a primary school, and Siam Ahmed Atiqul, 10, a madrasa student.

Narsingdi Railway Police Inspector Imaidul Jahedi said the dead bodies were handed over to their relatives without an autopsy at the request of the families.

According to eyewitnesses and police, the duo went to the side of the railway line in the Shahpur area on Thursday morning.

Later, when a Chittagong-bound container train came, the children were watching the train standing on another rail track.

At that time, they did not notice that the Dhaka-bound Titas Express train was coming on the same tracks from another direction.

Engrossed in their game of watching the container train and the noise, the children could not even hear the whistles. Both of them died on the spot.

Later, Railway Police members recovered the bodies from the spot.
