Police have seized seven explosives abandoned near a house in Bogra Sadar upazila’s Gokul union.

“We suspect that the crude bombs belong to some candidate or their supporters contesting the November 28 Union Parishad polls”, Bogra Sadar Police OC Selim Reza told Dhaka Tribune.

The bombs have been left in the location they were found and the bomb disposal unit in Dhaka has been notified, he said.

According to police, they were called in late on Thursday night when a local found a plastic bag containing objects resembling crude bombs.

Police reached the scene at 12am and cordoned off the area, suspecting that the explosives were powerful ones.
