Some unidentified people have vandalized the mural, foundation stone, and inaugural name-plate of BNP Standing Committee Member Dr Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain in Comilla's municipality building.
BNP leaders condemned the incident and demanded punishment of the culprits after some pictures of the vandalism got released on Facebook on Monday.
The attackers used crowbars to destroy the signs of the former health minister.
Dr Maruf Hossain, member of BNP Executive Committee and Mosharraf's son, blamed the ruling party activists for the attack.
In a video message, he said: “Awami League is involved behind this barbaric and nasty incident. I demand their arrest and punishment."
