Six die as bus crashes into autorickshaw in Gaibandha

All of the victims were travelling in the autorickshaw

Six people have been killed and two others were injured after a bus crashed into an autorickshaw in Rangpur.

The accident was reported early Friday morning on the Dhaka-Rangpur Highway at the district’s Gobindaganj upazila, reports Bangla Tribune.

“The bus collided head-on with the autorickshaw while overtaking another vehicle on the highway,” OC Khairul Islam of the Gobindaganj highway police. 

Witnesses said that three people died on the spot when the Hanif Paribahan-operated bus, which was heading to Rangpur, crashed into the autorickshaw.

Soon after, the fire service arrived at the scene.

“Five injured people were sent to the state-run hospital at the upazila town, where three succumbed to their injuries,” said Station in-charge Arif Anwar of the Gobindaganj Fire Service.  

All of the victims were travelling in the autorickshaw.

The six dead victims have been identified as autorickshaw driver Tuku Amin, and passengers Shohag Mia, Ashraf Mia, Ripon Mia, Sujan Mali and Khokon Chandra.
