Police in Moulvibazar have arrested a man on charges of raping a teenager housemaid several times over a year.
Chandan Dhar CollectedChandan Dhar, 45, was detained early on Sunday from the district town’s Jatgasi area, said Sreemangal police’s Sub-Inspector Asadur Rahman.
Earlier, Chandan’s mother Sadhana Dhar, 60, and wife Purna Dhar, 30, were arrested in the case started by the victim, said the police officer.
On Saturday, the 17-year-old victim was rescued, with her hands and legs tied, from Chandan’s house at the town’s Station Road.
According to the victim, she started working as a housemaid in Chandan’s house one and a half years ago. Not long after, Chandan raped her and continued raping her since by threatening to post videos of her on the internet otherwise. The people of the household did not stop him even after knowing everything.
The teenager further said that Chandan attempted to rape her on Saturday. When she refused, she was physically abused, tied up and left in a room.
Locals said that upon hearing the teenager’s scream, they reported to the police and Sreemangal police station OC Humayun Kabir brought in a police force to rescue the girl.
