The coastal city of Cox’s Bazar, one of the most popular tourist spots in the country, remained devoid of tourists on Thursday, the first day of Bengali New Year, despite a three-day holiday. Usually, an extended holiday means the longest beach in the world is swarmed with tourists looking to dip in the wave and take in the fresh air. However, this year, due to the Holy Ramadan, tourists did not flock to the otherwise popular getaway spot. The unexpected desolation left hotel and motel owners as well as those depending on the onrush of tourists in a rough spot this season.
